On Wednesday the 13th March we had some fantastic children go to the PALS (Physical Activity Leaders) training course at the EA Network Centre.
The PALs programme is a leadership opportunity for students to develop their skills and experience in a sport and physical activity context
Objectives of the PALs Workshops are:
- Build PALs capability in leading sport and physical activity experiences
- Provide PALs with games and ideas to support their school programme- Provide practical experience on 'how to' organise, manage and adapt games and activities.

We have also been working on publishing work and making sure it is quality but also done on time. We have got our fantastic Sky diving descriptions published and on display in class. Look at these expressions in the parachuters, aren't they cool!

Term 1
Week 5 and 6

I week 5 we have been focusing on adding detail to our sentences by adding in verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and a setting. The children have got really confident at seeing their simple sentence and moving towards developing compound and complex sentences. Have have seen all children use these details in their writing independently.

Week 6 = SWIM WEEK and sky dive writing. We have had such a busy week with swim week and also writing recounts on Miss Hannah's sky dive. The children went through the recount structure and discussed their details in their sentences especially their introduction which we have been practising to hook the readers in. Here are some pictures of the children posing for their sky dive publishing presentation, come in and have a look at them.

Week 2
Term 1

This week has been a week of accomplishments and significance. We have created our own collaborative Korowai in Room 1A. We were learning to share our beliefs, ideas, rights and responsibilities to develop guidelines for a positive classroom community. The goal of the activity is to construct a class Korowai cloak which will display what we value in our class. Th process was one of working together cooperatively to create the cloak. Negotiating a caring classroom environment in this way reinforces the Mãori concept of ako.
We have also had our first coding club group that have been working with Mrs Bodie Rouse to finish their first level and receive certificates. Well done guys.
Kind regards
Miss Hannah
